The colossal worlds of rock and classical music converge in an epic musical fusion between Concert Artists of Baltimore (CAB) and the Baltimore Rock Opera Society (BROS): Convergence Maximus at Light City! A new edition of the 2014 musical event that the Baltimore Sun called “a giddy, thoroughly entertaining event,” will run for two nights as a part of Light City. This large scale musical event will feature CAB’s full orchestra and chorus accompanied by rock n’ roll musicians performing a diverse and captivating program of masterpieces from the classical repertoire and original selections from rock operas written here in Baltimore. The rapid-fire program will also feature large-scale immersive projections that will accompany each musical selection.
The program features CAB performing such classical greats as selections from Tchaikovsky’s Violin Concerto, and the “Triumphal March” from Verdi’s Aida, and select songs from BROS original rock musical productions – including Valhella, Murdercastle, and a new piece from The Electric Pharaoh – arranged to include CAB’s professional choral and orchestral forces. The evening will be highlighted by the signature collaborative arrangement of Beethoven’s colossal masterpiece, Symphony No. 9 – expressing Beethoven's ultimate message of the greatness of humanity and brotherhood throughout the universe. A truly titanic night out!
The Baltimore War Memorial, a historic landmark completed in 1925, will provide an epic and beautiful setting that will be highlighted with site specific projections to create a true union of the arts. Classical extravagance, visual splendor and face-melting rock ‘n roll combine for a truly memorable showcase of the greatness of Baltimore’s art scene.
