"80s-tastic in the best of ways, Chronoshred hits all the right references – its aesthetic is like a combination of Star Trek, the original Tron, and 80s hair metal – but adds an extra layer of meta by hitting all of the right references (and spoofs of, and homages) to those references. If the costuming and set design are straight out of Star Trek and Metallica, the gags and punchlines and occasional cracks (or giant fissures) in the fourth wall owe just as much toGalaxy Quest and This is Spinal Tap. Chronoshred successfully walks the tightrope between slavish reverence and outright mocking of its ancestry. This is a show that is completely conscious of where it comes from and is all the stronger for it."
